Fall Window Pane

I didn't think I was going to pull it off before Thanksgiving, but here it is...AND I am so happy with it.  It has opened up a whole world of possibilities for me.  This project is made from my fall printable (found here).  Thanks to my mom who gave me some ideas and helped me and my dad who helped me print the pictures.

I apologize for the terrible lighting.  As you can tell from the original printable, the coloring is a bit off, but hopefully, you get the idea.

Once again, I didn't have a camera for pictures of step by step instructions.  I really need to get a new one if I keep up the creating thing.  But here are a few pointers...

*Get your board cut to the size you want.  I lucked out and got a LOAD of these from a factory for free.  

*Paint the edges and front brown and let dry.

*Sand and distress the edges.  I took a saw blade and hacked up the edges to help make the wood look really old.

*Paint the board antique white and let dry.

*Once again, sand and distress.

*At this point, I took a distressing ink pad and distressed the board too.

*For the window pane, take a small piece of chair railing and cut the longest piece to fit.  Glue into place.  For the smaller pieces, cut to size and use a miter saw to cut the edges to fit right up snug to the middle piece and glue into place.  (If you are wood cutting illiterate like me, you will be scratching your head with this part, just ask your mom...:D)

*For the picture (this was the FUN part).  I used Picasa (free picture editor from Google).  I opened up my picture and clicked on CREATE and selected MAKE POSTER.  This gave me the option to make my picture any size I wanted by using any number of any size individual pictures!  Think of the possibilities (I already have and will plan some of my next projects around them!).  In this case, I used four 5 x 7s.  I found a  piece of black and white paper to use to border them and modge podged it all on.  And that. is. it.
