Love Letters

There are 2 things I have been in love with lately, letter photography and anything black and white WITH red, or any color.  It would be super smart of me to buy stock for black paint and black ink. I brought them together to make this fun plaque.  I even made it Valentine-friendly by adding in some pink tulle that I will take off after Valentines.

I took the camera around my house and found things that resembled letters.  For the heart, my sister and I found that out on my parent's lawn early one morning and she snapped a picture of it.  You have to get super creative.  I am building quite the collection and can't wait to try other things with them.  The great thing about doing a plaque like this is putting another word on the back and then you can just switch it around every once in awhile.

* I started with a 1x6 board and cut it to 23 inches.
* After sanding the board, I painted it black and let it dry.

My pictures were 4-1/2 x 4-1/2.  I used photoshop to size them by opening up a 5x7 document and sizing the photo to the 4-1/2 x 4-1/2.  When it printed, I trimmed off all the white area.  When the board was dry, I positioned them how I wanted and mod podged them on.

For near perfect mod podging, check this link.  I like to add fun texturing by doing swirlies in different directions.  Another fun way is to do a sweeping motion in different directions.

I usually try to get the edges too, because I am too messy not to get some there anyway and then when it dries, if you haven't done the sides, you can see your mistakes.

When it is dry, add some tulle and viola!

Update:  Here is another version of the LOVE letters.  I used a 2x4 for this one with 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 inch pics.  I would have done 3x3 instead, but I already had them printed.  Again, I used pink tulle with the red and it can be taken off after Valentines Day.

Many of you have inquired if you can purchase these letters and the good news is yes.  They can now be found at my etsy shop here.

  13. @Gremma Thank you so much for your kind comments for my blog. I am new at blogging and coincidently just yesterday, I set up the feedburner for my blog. I still have no idea what it does, only that blogs offer it. LOL. So, as soon as I can figure out the fancy buttons to add it to my blog, I will let you know. Thanks again, and I would LOVE for you to follow along.

Wait! Don't read and run. I would love to know what you think. Good? Bad? (Okay, maybe not the bad. My ego is fragile still.) It is your comments that keep this little brain buzzing.
